Position: Engineer, Optics Design Ref.: LED/E/OD/090109 Post Date: 09 January 2009 Deadline for Application: 19 January 2009 The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region founded the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Company Limited (ASTRI) in 2001 to capture the promises of technological advances for Hong Kong through world-class applied research, with a strategic plan to become Greater China's most customer-focused applied research institution by continuously producing a substantial volume of world-competitive intellectual properties, and transfer them cost-effectively to the burgeoning local technology industries of Hong Kong, Pearl River Delta and the rest of China, and in so doing, position Hong Kong as a vital driving force for technology in the region. As a research institution, ASTRI's R&D activities focus on four closely interrelated technological domains: IC Designs, Communications Technologies, Enterprise and Consumer Electronics, and Material and Packaging Technologies. ASTRI is now looking for high calibre professionals to fill the following position: Duties: Responsible for imaging and non-imaging optical design in display field, e.g., flat panel display backlighting, projector, etc.; Perform each project and application analysis, including optical system design, vender survey, schedule control and prototype verification; and Technology benchmark and patent analysis of existing designs. Requirements: Bachelor degree in optical engineering, or Master degree (optical engineering Bachelor degree holder) preferably in related disciplines; Familiar with optical system design tools, such as Code V, and Zemax; Familiar with optical simulation software, such as ASAP, LightTools or TracePro; Experience in non-imagining optical parts design, such as LED second optics design, projector illumination system design, etc.; Experience in design and development of backlights, projector or display optical systems is preferable; Experience or education background on laser beam shaping, mechanism, fabrication process, application or related research/industry is a plus; Excellent communication skills; and |
