orldwide FRED is becoming very popular in the following industries:

1) laser propagation - because FRED is one of the only raytracing software programs that can propagate coherent fields.

2) aerospace, stray light analysis etc. - because FRED has multiple accurate scatter models, and many useful tools (e.g. image artifact diagnostic tool, stray light reports etc).
In addition to the above, the recent changes to the optimizer (v11.40) include many new merit functions that are suitable for the illumination industry (e.g. "Illumination Variance").
